Rated to 500 mSv/year.Tested to 1,200.
Composite radiation barriers for crewed spacecraft, orbital habitats, and lunar surface modules. Hydrogenated polyethylene · Graded-Z laminates · Active magnetic deflection.
Dose Attenuation vs. Areal Density
Computed dose-equivalent reduction for GCR (ISO 15390 solar minimum) and SPE (August 1972 worst-case) spectra. SHD-7X panel position marked at 10.68 g/cm².
Test Facilities & Beam Records
All SHD-series panels are qualified at three independent particle accelerator facilities covering proton, alpha, and heavy ion beams. Cumulative fluence exceeds 10-year LEO mission equivalent.
Integration Specifications
Panel configurations are sized to mission profile. Mass-per-square-meter values include all layers, fasteners, and magnetic coil assembly. Thermal interface conductance values are measured, not estimated.
Flight Heritage & TRL Status
SHD-series panels are qualified, delivered, or under contract on six programs spanning LEO, NRHO, GEO, and heliocentric missions. TRL levels are per NASA NPR 7123.1C definitions.
